Villanova University Law Institute Third Annual Survivor-Led Symposium

Engaging Survivors of Commercial Sexual Exploitation to End Gender-Based Violence

The purpose of the annual Survivor-Led Symposium is for the professional community

to learn from the survivor community. It is only through input and collaboration with survivor

leaders, that professional allies – law enforcement, attorneys, social workers, judges, legislators,

medical providers, and concerned citizens – will be effective in combatting commercial sexual


Symposium participants will be provided with an opportunity to gather the most relevant

information by attending workshops and developing an action plan they can take back to their

respective work spaces. Cultural competence and victim-centered practices can only be learned

through engagement and listening to survivors.
